The Rockerman of Texas Story

Can a rocking chair change your life? For Alex Smith, the answer was yes—and it led to carrying on a tradition of craftsmanship built the right way.
Alex was visiting Rough Creek Lodge and Resort in Glen Rose, TX eight years ago when he sank into one of the big, oversized rockers on the outdoor deck. He loved the rocker so much he asked where it came from, and discovered it was made in Cresson, Texas, by a company called Rockerman of Texas.
Alex wanted some of this great furniture for himself, so he paid a visit to the business and met the owners, Junior and Melanie Harris. They had been making the furniture since 1994.
Alex not only bought some rockers and benches – he eventually purchased the entire company. He loved the commitment to traditional craftsmanship and quality at Rockerman of Texas.
Alex understood that level of commitment through his own career in professional baseball and business leadership, where discipline, consistency, and attention to detail mattered every day.
Once he bought the company, Alex set out to learn every aspect of the business from Junior and Melanie. In addition to mastering the Rockerman of Texas craft, Alex has added new pieces to the line and has delivered to 30+ states across the USA.
Today, Rockerman of Texas operates out of Justin, Texas—continuing a tradition of handcrafted furniture built with pride, precision, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
We invite you to visit our shop and experience the Rockerman of Texas collection for yourself. There’s something different about furniture that’s built by hand with care, pride, and attention to detail—you can feel it the moment you sit down.
Every piece we build is made to be used, enjoyed, and kept for years. That’s what we believe in, and that’s what we stand behind.
Rock on!
